Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences – National Institute of Republic of Serbia, University of Belgrade
The mission of the CONVERSE is to use modern research in the field of light energy and materials to connect groups of scientists whose existing experience can contribute to the development of new materials and the improvement of existing ones for light energy conversion, as well as their application in modern technologies. Converse is determined to secure a long-term leading position in light energy conversion materials research in Serbia and to increase the Center's recognition worldwide.
The Center of Excellence for Photoconversion was established in 2021 within the Laboratory for Radiation Chemistry and Physics, as part of the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences – an institute of national importance for the Republic of Serbia, University of Belgrade.
The Center of Excellence CONVERSE is a specialized center for science, technology, research, and development. The Center’s associates have more than two decades of experience in scientific communication at the international level.
The activities of the CONVERSE are based on the study of materials that exhibit high absorbance of electromagnetic radiation in the desired part of the spectrum and high efficiency in converting light energy into other forms of energy.
Research at the Center is primarily conducted in two directions: the investigation of materials that convert light energy into light (light transformers) and materials that convert light energy into chemical energy.
The goals of the CONVERSE Center are:
The number of international and national projects, sub-projects, and project tasks led by the Center's associates since 2010 is 38.
We believe in the essential contribution of advanced materials, not only for solving technological challenges but, in a broader sense, for the well-being of all citizens and the definition of a long-term vision for sustainable development—economic, environmental, and social.
